Ways to SAVE on “Black Friday”

By DinaG | November 19, 2008

Are you anxious to hit the stores the day after Thanksgiving - also known as “Black Friday”? But also watching your budget closely and looking for good deals? Well here are some sites I ran across and also heard about on Channell 11 News this morning. Check them out for early tips on coupons and sales for Black Friday:

http://bfads.net/ a site that lists retailers who have posted sales for Black Friday

www.blackfriday.com a site with links sponsorde by retailers who have deals for holiday shopping

www.blackfriday.info   a site that lists and also scans in Black Friday ads from circulars, newspaper etc.

www.retailmenot.com  a site that lists the most common coupon codes for online merchants - pretty neat!

Please note, I haven’t tried these sites out personally as of the writing of this post, so make sure you do your own homework. I plan to really research them this weekend! I hope you find something helpful! Here’s to saving lots of $$ this holiday season.

Monte Hewett finishes La Ruta de Los Conquistadores bike race

By DinaG | November 16, 2008

Monte Hewett finished #176 out of 320 riders on Saturday to complete one of the world’s toughest mountain bike races. This was his first race of this caibur and finishing ahead of nearly half the riders is an amazing accomplishment. Way to go Monte!

Stage 4 of the race took the riders all the way to the Gulf coast of Costa Rica. Monte said in phone conversations with his wife, that the scenery was amazing. And from the looks of some of the official race photos (on the race website here) he is right! Some parts of the final stage required the riders to CARRY their bikes across a train trussle - see the photo below.  Wow.

Everyone at Monte Hewett Homes is so proud of Monte, and we can’t wait to welcome him home this week.

Monte Finishes Stage 2 and is having a blast!

By DinaG | November 14, 2008

Monte finished in 172 place out of over 350 riders in Stage 2 of La Ruta de los Conquistadores mountain bike race in Consta Rica last night. The final Stage, which finishes on the Gulf coast side of the country, started this morning.

Monte’s wife Jill has spoken to him several times and said that he is having a great time and that the country, jungle and rainforrests are amazing.

Jill emailed: “I spoke with Monte earlier this afternoon and he had a fun, “HARD” day.  He went straight up a mountain for 6 hours!!! He’s in the mountains for the night.  He’s having such an awesome time and a wonderful experience…He said he feels great and is doing well!”

Visit the photo gallery for more shots of Day 2.

Here’s a photo from Day/Stage 2. So beautiful…

Go Tex! Keep it up! One more Stage to go!

Monte’s fellow Atlanta racing friend Turner Thomas (owner of Van Michael’s salons in Atlanta) came in #14 overall. Amazing. They have a photo gallery from yesterdays stage posted…look at all the mud!
(This isn’t a photo of Monte unfortunately…)

Stage 2 is underway! Check back and we’ll post the results Friday morning!
